In these answers, Settings means the Settings screen inside Paw Crew, which opens from the profile button at the top of Today or Pets. The iPhone Settings app is called the Settings app.
The basics
- What is Paw Crew?
- Paw Crew is an iPhone app that helps a household look after its pets together. It shows who fed, walked or gave meds today, reminds you of what is due next, and keeps a record you can show your vet.
- How much does Paw Crew cost?
- Paw Crew is free for one pet. Paw Crew Pro is a one-time in-app purchase of $7.99 in the US, bought through Apple. There is no subscription.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Paw Crew has no accounts and no servers of ours. It uses the iCloud account already on your iPhone.
- Where is my pets' data stored?
- On your iPhone and in your own iCloud, in Apple's private CloudKit database. We cannot see it. The App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
- Does Paw Crew give veterinary advice?
- No. Paw Crew logs and reminds only. It does not give medical advice, work out doses or assess your pet. Always consult your vet, and if your pet seems unwell, call your vet or an emergency vet straight away.
- Which devices does Paw Crew work on?
- Paw Crew works on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, and has a companion app for Apple Watch on watchOS 26. There is no Android version today.
- Which languages is Paw Crew in?
- English plus 24 languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The app follows your iPhone's language, and this website comes in the same languages. The policies are in English for now.
Getting started
- How do I set up Paw Crew?
- Open the app and tap Get started. A short guided setup walks you through your first pet: name and species, a photo, details, weight, the daily routine, any meds or care that is due, notifications and your vet. At the end you get a Today page that is ready to use.
- Can I skip parts of the setup?
- Yes. Every step after your pet's name and species has Skip, and Back works on every step. You can fill in anything you skipped later from the pet's page in the Pets tab.
- I closed the app halfway through setup. Do I start again?
- No. Paw Crew saves your progress as you go and opens at the step where you left off.
- I have used Paw Crew before. How do I get my pets back?
- On the first screen, choose I've used it before, then Restore from iCloud. Paw Crew finds your data in iCloud and skips the setup. You need to be signed in to the same Apple Account you used before.
Adding pets
- How do I add another pet?
- Open the Pets tab and tap Add pet, or open the pet menu at the top of Today and choose Add pet. Paw Crew is free for one pet; more pets need Paw Crew Pro, and the app shows you the price before anything is charged.
- Which kinds of pets can I add?
- Cats, dogs and other pets. Cats and dogs get their own drawn avatar, and every other pet gets a general one. You can also add a photo.
- Does adding a pet photo give Paw Crew access to my photo library?
- No. Paw Crew uses Apple's photo picker, so it only receives the one photo you choose. It never sees the rest of your library.
- How do I switch between pets?
- Tap a pet's tab at the top of Today, or swipe across the page. With more than three pets, or with long names or large text, the tabs become one menu that lists every pet.
- How do I change a pet's details?
- Open the Pets tab, choose the pet, and edit its name, photo, breed, birthday or adoption day, microchip number and notes.
Logging and backdating
- What is the Day Ledger?
- It is the Today page: one ruled page per pet, per day. It shows what was carried over from earlier, what is done and who did it, the Now line, and what is still to come.
- How do I log a feed, walk or dose?
- On Today, tap a quick-log button at the Now line. From any tab you can also tap the Log for pill above the tab bar, which logs for the pet you have selected. You can add a note or a photo to any log.
- I forgot to log something. Can I log it for an earlier time?
- Yes. Touch and hold a quick-log button and choose the time it really happened. The log takes its place in the day at that time, so the Day Ledger stays in order.
- I logged the wrong thing. How do I fix it?
- Right after logging, tap Undo on the message at the bottom of the screen. Later on, swipe the log to edit or delete it.
- How does Paw Crew know who logged something?
- Each log keeps the name of the person who made it, from their iCloud sharing profile. In a shared household, everyone sees a line such as Anna fed Miso at 7:42.
- Can I track a course of medication?
- Yes. Add a med course with the medication name, the schedule, the start date and an end date or number of doses. Paw Crew counts the doses given and shows Course complete at the end. It does not calculate or suggest doses; follow your vet's instructions.
Household notifications and nudges
- Will I get a notification when someone else logs?
- If you want one. In a shared household, Paw Crew can show a quiet notification when someone else logs, such as Anna fed Miso. You choose it per person and per care type. At first only meds are on, and everything else is off.
- What is a not logged yet nudge?
- If a routine item, such as Dinner for Miso, is not logged by its time plus a short grace period, everyone in the household gets one reminder that it isn't logged yet. As soon as one person logs it, the nudge is cancelled on every iPhone.
- How do I stop household notifications?
- In Paw Crew, open Settings and the notification preferences, and turn off the people or care types you do not want to hear about, or the not logged yet nudges. To silence Paw Crew completely, turn off its notifications in the Settings app under Notifications. Your choices stay on your iPhone and never change anyone else's.
- How do household notifications work without a server?
- Through Apple. When a shared log changes, Apple's iCloud sends each iPhone in the household a silent push that says something changed, with nothing from your logs in it. Paw Crew then fetches the change from iCloud and shows a local notification. No server of ours is involved.
Sitters and the lost-pet card
- How does a temporary sitter invite work, and when does it end?
- With Paw Crew Pro, open Sitter handoff, turn on Sitter's access ends, choose the last day and tap Invite a sitter. Apple's sharing screen sends the invite; add the sitter by name, email or phone number. The sitter sees the shared pets and logs on the same page as you. After their last day, your Paw Crew removes them from the share the next time it runs, including in the background, and the shared pets leave their iPhone. A sitter who accepts the invite late keeps the same last day. You can also remove them earlier.
- My sitter does not use iCloud. What can I give them?
- The sitter sheet, part of Paw Crew Pro. It is a PDF built from your routines, meds, contacts, quirks and your vet, with the veterinary disclaimer at the foot. Print it, or send it by AirDrop or Messages.
- How do I make a lost-pet poster?
- Open the pet's page in the Pets tab and make its lost-pet card. Paw Crew makes a Lost poster and a pocket card with the photo, name, microchip number and the phone number you choose. Export it as a PDF or an image to print or send. It is free.
- What does the QR code on the lost-pet card contain?
- Only what you choose: a contact card with your chosen name and number, or a link that calls or texts that number. It never holds a link to us or to any website, and nothing is uploaded. Anyone who scans it can see that contact, so pick a number you are happy to share.
Reminders and notifications
- What kinds of reminder schedules can I set?
- Every few hours, a set number of times a day at chosen times, every few days, weekly, or once a month on a chosen date. Vaccines, flea and tick treatment, deworming and checkups each get a due date and use the same reminders.
- Can I mark a reminder done without opening the app?
- Yes. Touch and hold the notification, then choose Mark done, Snooze for 15 minutes or an hour, or Skip. Mark done writes the log for you.
- My reminders are not arriving. What should I check?
- First, in the Settings app, open Notifications, then Paw Crew, and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Then check that a Focus is not silencing Paw Crew, that Paw Crew is not held back in a Scheduled Summary, and that the reminder itself is switched on in the Reminders tab. If you turned notifications off, Paw Crew shows a banner on Today that takes you straight to the right setting.
- Reminders stop after I have not opened the app for a while.
- iOS lets an app keep a limited number of notifications waiting, so Paw Crew schedules the next stretch of reminders and tops it up when you open the app or when iOS gives it background time. Turn on Background App Refresh for Paw Crew in the Settings app, and note that Low Power Mode pauses it. Opening Paw Crew now and then also refills the list.
- Will a med reminder get through a Focus?
- Med reminders are sent as Time Sensitive notifications, so they can break through a Focus if you allow Time Sensitive notifications for Paw Crew. Other reminders follow your Focus settings.
- What happens to reminders when I travel or the clocks change?
- Paw Crew keeps reminders correct across daylight saving changes and time zones. When your time zone changes, the Reminders tab shows it and lets you adjust your schedules if you want them to follow you.
- Why did Paw Crew not ask for notifications during setup?
- Paw Crew only asks when you create your first reminder, and shows you which reminders the permission is for. If there is nothing to remind you of yet, it does not ask.
Supplies and vet expenses
- How does Paw Crew estimate when food or litter runs out?
- You enter the package size and how much each logged feed, dose or litter change uses. Paw Crew subtracts each log and works out the days left from how fast you have been using it, such as Kibble runs out in about 5 days. It is an estimate, only as good as the amounts you enter.
- How do I get a low-supply reminder, and reset it?
- Each supply has a reminder a few days before it is expected to run out, and you can change how early. When you buy more, tap Restocked and the count starts again from a full package.
- Which currency do vet expenses use?
- Your region's currency, as set on your iPhone. Each amount is stored with its currency, and the monthly and yearly totals for each pet and for the household are shown in your local format. Vet expenses are part of Paw Crew Pro.
- Can I export my pet expenses?
- Yes. Expenses, with their dates, categories, pets and amounts, export as a CSV file you can open in a spreadsheet. The file is made on your iPhone and goes only where you send it.
Observations and the vet report
- What are Observations?
- A quick log for things you notice, such as vomited, limping, ate half or drank a lot. Choose from a list or type your own, with the time, a note and an optional photo. They show on the Day Ledger with who logged them, and they are free.
- Will Paw Crew tell me what an observation means?
- No. Paw Crew keeps each observation exactly as you wrote it and never interprets, scores or suggests anything about it. It is a record to show your vet, and with Paw Crew Pro observations appear in the PDF vet report exactly as logged. If your pet seems unwell, call your vet or an emergency vet. Paw Crew doesn't provide veterinary advice. Always consult your vet.
- How do I make a vet report?
- With Paw Crew Pro, open the pet, choose the vet report and pick a date range. Paw Crew makes a PDF with meds and med courses, records, a weight chart, Observations exactly as logged and your notes, and you can add expenses. Share it by AirDrop, Messages or Mail, or print it.
- Can I export all my data?
- Yes, with Paw Crew Pro. Export everything, expenses included, as CSV or JSON. The file is made on your iPhone and goes only where you send it.
Live Activities and the walk timer
- Does the walk timer track my location?
- No. The walk timer in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen records how long the walk lasted, never where you went. Paw Crew never asks for location permission. Finishing the timer logs the walk with its duration.
- Why does the next dose countdown only appear within 8 hours?
- iOS limits a Live Activity to about 8 hours, so Paw Crew starts the countdown when a med dose is due within 8 hours. It ends when the dose is logged or skipped, and it is updated on your iPhone with no push server.
iCloud sync
- How does sync work between my devices?
- Paw Crew syncs through your own iCloud, using Apple's private CloudKit database. Sign in to the same Apple Account on each iPhone, and changes usually appear within a minute or so when both are online.
- My changes are not showing on my other iPhone.
- Check that both iPhones are signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is on for Paw Crew in the Settings app under your name, then iCloud, and that both are online. Low Power Mode and Low Data Mode can delay sync. In Paw Crew, Settings shows your iCloud status.
- Paw Crew says my iCloud is full or signed out.
- Your logs stay safe on your iPhone and keep working there. Free up or add iCloud storage, or sign back in to iCloud, and Paw Crew syncs again. Photos use the most space.
- Does Paw Crew work without an internet connection?
- Yes. Everything works on your iPhone, and reminders are local notifications. Changes sync the next time you are online.
Widgets and Siri
- How do I add a Paw Crew widget?
- Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Paw Crew. The Home Screen widget has a button that logs a feed or walk without opening the app. On the Lock Screen, a widget shows the next med that is due.
- Can I log with Siri?
- Yes. Ask Siri something like Log a walk for Max in Paw Crew, using your pet's name. You can also build your own shortcuts in the Shortcuts app, or put a Paw Crew log on the Action button.
- My widget shows an old time.
- Widgets refresh on a timetable iOS controls. Opening Paw Crew or logging from the widget brings it up to date. If it stays stuck, remove the widget and add it again.
Themes, streaks, search and About
- How do I change the colour theme?
- Go to Settings > Appearance. Pick Cloud Ink, Mint Press or Rose Quartz with a live preview of Today, and choose Light, Dark or System. The theme applies everywhere, widgets included, and follows you to your other iPhones through iCloud.
- Why does each pet have its own colour?
- Each pet gets its own ink so you can tell at a glance whose day you are reading, and each kind of log has its own colour too. The colours change with the theme but always stay distinct and readable.
- How do I see the app tour again?
- Go to Settings > Show app tour. It starts again from the first stop.
- Where do I find the app version?
- Go to Settings > About. It shows the version, links to these pages, and the reminder that Paw Crew doesn't provide veterinary advice. Include the version when you write to us.
- What happens to a streak if I miss a day?
- Care streaks have grace days, so one missed or busy day does not end them, and Paw Crew never scolds you. Milestones such as 100 walks or one year logged, and birthday and gotcha-day cards, are there to enjoy, not to keep score.
- Can I find my pets and contacts in Spotlight?
- Yes. Pets, contacts and documents appear in iPhone search. The index is kept on your device only, and deleting a pet or using Delete all data removes its entries.
Paw Crew Pro, restoring and refunds
- What does Paw Crew Pro add?
- Pro removes the one-pet limit and unlocks the Pro features listed on the Pricing page. Everything in the free version stays free, including reminders, widgets, Siri, iCloud sync and household sharing.
- How do I buy Paw Crew Pro?
- Paw Crew shows the Pro sheet when you reach for a Pro feature, such as adding a second pet. It states the price and that it is a one-time purchase. Apple handles the payment with your Apple Account; we never see your card.
- Is it really a one-time purchase?
- Yes. Paw Crew Pro costs $7.99 in the US, once. Other countries see a local price set through the App Store. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
- I bought Pro but the app does not show it.
- Go to Settings and tap Restore Purchases, or tap Restore on the Pro sheet. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought with. If an Ask to Buy request is still waiting, Pro unlocks once the family organiser approves it.
- Can my family use my Pro purchase?
- Yes. Paw Crew Pro supports Apple Family Sharing, so members of your Family Sharing group can use it with their own Apple Account, under Apple's rules. They may need to tap Restore Purchases once.
- How do I get a refund?
- Apple handles every App Store payment, so refunds go through Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or from your purchase history. Apple decides each request; we cannot issue refunds ourselves.
- What does a tip do?
- Nothing in the app changes: a tip is an optional thank you, in Settings > Tip Jar, and every feature stays exactly as it is. Tips are one-time payments through Apple, cannot be restored and are not shared through Family Sharing. If a tip waits for Ask to Buy approval, Paw Crew thanks you once it is approved.
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and new devices
- How do I move Paw Crew to a new iPhone?
- Sign in to the same Apple Account on the new iPhone and install Paw Crew. On the first screen, choose I've used it before, then Restore from iCloud. Your pets, logs, photos and theme come back from your iCloud. If you have Pro, tap Restore Purchases in Settings.
- Do my reminders move too?
- Yes. Your reminder schedules sync through iCloud, and the new iPhone schedules its own notifications. Allow notifications on the new iPhone when Paw Crew asks.
- What should I do with my old iPhone?
- Once your data shows on the new iPhone, you can delete Paw Crew from the old one. Deleting the app only removes the copy on that iPhone; your iCloud copy stays. Do not use Delete all data on the old iPhone, because it also removes your iCloud data.
- Is there an Apple Watch app?
- Yes, free, for watchOS 26. Log Fed, Meds, Walk or Litter for the selected pet, see what's next, Mark done or Snooze a reminder, add a complication for the next item, and run the walk timer. It works with Paw Crew on your paired iPhone and reads the same data through your iCloud.
- Does Paw Crew work on iPad?
- Yes, free, on iPadOS 26 or later. On iPad, Today shows your pets in a sidebar beside the Day Ledger, pet pages use more columns, and every quick-log type has a keyboard shortcut. Sign in with the same Apple Account and it syncs with your iPhone through iCloud.
Privacy and deleting data
- Can Kallos Labs see my pets' records?
- No. We run no servers for the app, so there is nowhere for your records to come to us. They stay on your devices and in your iCloud, and only the people you share with can see the pets you share.
- How do I delete everything?
- Go to Settings > Delete all data and confirm. It deletes the data on this iPhone, your Paw Crew data in iCloud, the households you share and any export files waiting on this iPhone. The Delete your data page lists every other way.
- What happens to shared pets when I delete my data?
- If you own a shared household, deleting your data ends the share, and the people you invited lose those pets and logs. If someone else shares with you, their pets leave your iPhone, and the owner keeps them, including the logs you added. Read the Delete your data page before you start.
- Does Paw Crew send crash reports?
- Paw Crew has no crash reporting of its own. It uses Apple's MetricKit on your iPhone, and Apple shares crash reports with developers only if you chose to share analytics with app developers in the Settings app.
Accessibility
- Does Paw Crew work with VoiceOver?
- Yes. Every button and drawing has a label, the tab labels are always present, and the app tour reads each stop aloud and moves focus to what it describes.
- Does Paw Crew support larger text?
- Yes. Paw Crew follows Dynamic Type up to the largest accessibility sizes. At large sizes the pet tabs turn into a menu so names are never cut off.
- Does Paw Crew respect Reduce Motion, Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast?
- Yes. With Reduce Motion, animations such as the tour spotlight become a simple fade. Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast use the system's solid versions of the glass controls. Text in every theme meets a 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio in light and dark.
- I found something hard to use. Who do I tell?
- Write to support@pawcrew.app and describe what you were trying to do and which setting you use, such as VoiceOver or a large text size. We treat accessibility problems as bugs.
