Pet care log glossary
The words Paw Crew uses, and what they mean. Short definitions for the terms that come up when a household logs pet care together.
- Day Ledger
- The Today screen in Paw Crew: one ruled page per pet, per day. It reads top to bottom in time order: what was carried over, what is done and by whom, the Now line, and what is still to come.
- Now line
- The line at the current time on the Day Ledger. It divides what is done from what is still to do. The quick-log buttons sit on it, so a tap logs at this minute.
- Log
- One recorded care event, such as a meal, a walk or a dose, with the time, the pet and who did it. As a verb, to record one.
- Log type
- The kind of care a log records. Paw Crew has Fed, Meds, Water, Litter, Walk and Grooming built in, each with its own colour and icon, plus custom types.
- Carried over
- A care task that was due earlier and has not been logged yet. It sits at the top of the Day Ledger with the lateness written out, such as "2 days late", until someone logs it.
- Quick-log button
- A button that logs a care type in one tap. Holding it logs for an earlier time instead of now.
- Signature
- The name on the right of each done entry in the Day Ledger, such as "by Anna" or "by you". It shows who logged it.
- Pet ink
- The colour each pet has in Paw Crew. It marks that pet's timeline, ticks, Now line and Log button, so pets are easy to tell apart.
- Household sharing
- Sharing one pet or all your pets with the people you live with through iCloud sharing, included at launch. The people you invite see the pets and logs you share, and who logged what. No account with us is needed.
- Household notification
- A quiet notification that someone else in your household logged something, such as Anna fed Miso. You choose it per person and per care type; only meds are on at first.
- Not logged yet nudge
- One reminder each person in a shared household gets when a routine item is still not logged after its time and a short grace period. It clears for everyone once one person logs it.
- Sitter handoff
- The Paw Crew Pro way to hand pets to a sitter: a sitter sheet as a PDF, or a temporary invite to the shared pets that ends after a last day you choose.
- Lost-pet card
- A Lost poster and a pocket card Paw Crew makes on your iPhone, with your pet's photo, name, microchip number, your chosen phone number and a QR code that holds only that contact.
- Observation
- A log of something you noticed about a pet, such as limping or ate half, with the time and an optional note or photo. Paw Crew keeps it exactly as written and never interprets it.
- Supply reminder
- A reminder that food, litter, meds or treats are about to run out, based on the package size and how much each log uses. Restocked starts the count again.
- Live Activity
- A live view on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Paw Crew uses one for the walk timer, which records duration only, and one for the next dose countdown.
- Care streak
- The run of days a pet's routine was kept, counted with grace days so one busy day does not end it. Paw Crew never scolds you for a missed day.
- Pet timeline
- A Paw Crew Pro view of one pet's whole history in date order: logs, records, Observations, weigh-ins and attached documents.
- Reminder
- A scheduled local notification on your iPhone for a care task. Paw Crew reminders repeat every few hours, at set times each day, every few days, weekly or monthly on a date.
- Local notification
- A notification your iPhone schedules and shows by itself, with no server involved. It fires on time with or without a connection.
- Time Sensitive notification
- An iOS notification level for alerts that matter now. It can be delivered during a Focus that allows it. Paw Crew uses it for medication reminders.
- Mark done
- The action on a Paw Crew reminder that writes the log entry straight from the notification, without opening the app. Snooze and Skip sit beside it.
- Med course
- A medication with a schedule, a start date and an end date or number of doses, entered as your vet prescribed. Paw Crew counts the doses remaining and shows Course complete at the end. It never works out a dose.
- Care due
- A dated item that comes round again, such as a vaccine, flea and tick treatment, deworming or a checkup. Paw Crew reminds you when each is due.
- Weight log
- A pet's weights over time, shown as a list and a simple chart in kilograms or pounds, with an optional target.
- Vet-ready record
- A dated history of a pet's care that you can show your vet: doses given, care due dates, weight and notes. Paw Crew builds it as you log.
- Widget
- A small view of an app on the iPhone Home Screen or Lock Screen. Paw Crew widgets show what is due and can log a care event with one tap.
- Siri and Shortcuts
- Voice and automation for Paw Crew's actions. Saying "Log a walk for Max" writes the same entry as the app.
- iCloud sync
- How Paw Crew keeps your devices in step: through your own iCloud, in Apple's private CloudKit database. We cannot see it.
- Data Not Collected
- The App Store privacy label for Paw Crew. The app has no account, no servers of ours, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
- Paw Crew Pro
- The one-time in-app purchase of $7.99 in the US, through Apple, that unlocks unlimited pets and more. No subscription. Shared with your family through Family Sharing.
- Restore Purchases
- The Settings action that brings back Paw Crew Pro on a new or reset iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Delete all data
- The Settings action that removes everything Paw Crew stored: the data on your device, your iCloud data and the shares you own, after you confirm.
Paw Crew doesn't provide veterinary advice. Always consult your vet.
