Privacy first
Privacy first: your pets' data stays in your iCloud
Paw Crew was built so that we never hold your data. There is no account, no server of ours and nothing that tracks you. Here is where each thing lives, who can see it, and how to remove it.
Where everything lives
| What | Where it lives | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Pets, logs, Observations, reminders, med courses, records, weight, supplies, expenses and contacts | On your iPhone, and in your own iCloud in Apple's private CloudKit database | You, on your devices. We cannot. |
| Pets you share with your household | In your iCloud, shared through iCloud sharing | You and the people you invite, who see the shared pets, their logs and who logged what. A temporary sitter invite ends after the last day you set. |
| Photos you add to a pet, a log, an Observation or an expense receipt | On your iPhone, synced through your iCloud | You, and the people you share that pet with |
| Reminders and household notifications | Scheduled and shown on your iPhone as local notifications. For household notifications, Apple's iCloud sends a silent push to say something changed | Only your iPhone, and Apple's push service, which carries no content from your logs. No push server of ours. |
| Live Activities: walk timer and dose countdown | On your iPhone, updated by the app itself | Only you. The walk timer records duration, never location. |
| Lost-pet poster and pocket card | Made on your iPhone as a PDF or image. The QR code holds only a contact card or a call or text link | Whoever you give the card to. Nothing is uploaded. |
| Paw Crew Pro purchase | With Apple, on your Apple Account | Apple. We see App Store totals, never who bought. |
| Crash and performance reports | Apple MetricKit on your iPhone, and Apple's own crash sharing if you turned it on with Apple | Apple, and from Apple anonymous reports to us, only if you opted in |
| Visits to pawcrew.app | Vercel server logs, kept briefly. Google Analytics 4 only if you accept the cookie banner | Us, as counts. Nothing you log in the app ever reaches this website. |
How it works, step by step
You log on your iPhone
Every tap is saved on your iPhone first, so Paw Crew works offline, on a plane or in a basement with no signal.
Your iCloud keeps it in sync
Apple's CloudKit copies your records to the private database in your own iCloud and to your other devices. It counts towards your iCloud storage, not ours, because we have none.
You choose who else sees it
Household sharing, included at launch, uses iCloud sharing. You invite people through Messages, AirDrop or a link, and they see the pets and logs you share. Remove someone or stop sharing and they no longer see them.
No iCloud? Still works
If iCloud is off on your iPhone, Paw Crew keeps everything on that iPhone. Turn iCloud on later and it syncs.
What we never do
- Ask you to make an account, or ask for your email in the app.
- Run a server that stores your pets' records.
- Include analytics, advertising or tracking code in the app.
- Ask for your location, even for the walk timer.
- Sell, rent or share data, because we have none to share.
- Show ads, in the app or on this website.
The honest trade-off
Because we never hold your data, we cannot restore it for you. If you delete it, it is gone. Your iCloud and your iPhone backups are what keep it safe, so keep iCloud on if you want a copy beyond one phone.
Deleting is yours to do
Delete a single log, a pet, or everything. Delete all data in Settings removes the data on your iPhone, your data in iCloud, and the shares you own, after one confirmation. No form, no email to us, no waiting.
And this website
pawcrew.app is hosted on Vercel, which keeps server logs for a short time. Google Analytics 4 loads only after you accept the cookie banner, and a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as no. There are no ads here either.
