The short version
Use Paw Crew to look after pets, and treat the people you share a household with fairly. Share only with people you mean to share with, keep the log honest, do not use it to watch or harass anyone, and do not try to break the app or the website. That is it.
This policy is part of the terms of use. Words like “household”, “owner” and “participant” mean what they mean there.
1. Why this policy exists
Paw Crew has no account with us and no server of ours. We cannot see what you log or who you share it with, and we do not moderate it. That makes this policy mostly a promise between the people in a household, with us as the people who wrote the rules down. It still matters: breaking it is a breach of the terms of use, and it can hurt people and animals.
2. Use it for pet care
Paw Crew is for keeping a record of caring for animals: your own, your household’s, or ones you look after as a sitter, a foster carer or a friend. You may use it for a small amount of informal paid care, such as a dog walker keeping a log for a client who shares the pet with them.
Businesses may use Paw Crew too, such as a kennel, a groomer, a pet sitter, a rescue or a shelter. It is built for households, so we do not offer business features, service levels or dedicated support, and the same terms apply to a business as to anyone else.
3. Share fairly
When you invite someone to a household share, or accept an invitation:
- Invite only people you mean to invite. Send invitations to people you know, and remove anyone who should no longer have access, such as a former housemate or a sitter after the job ends.
- Remember what a share shows. Everyone in the share can see the shared pets’ logs, notes, photos, documents and contacts, and the names of the people who made each entry. Do not put anything in a shared pet that you would not want every participant to see.
- Keep the log honest. Do not record care that did not happen, and do not delete or change someone else’s entry to mislead the household. A pet’s feeding and medication depend on the log being true.
- Do not take over a share. Do not remove the other participants, delete shared pets or change their records to shut someone out of caring for an animal they share with you, except where you have the right to (for example, you are the owner and the animal is yours).
- Do not leave others stranded. If you are the owner and plan to stop sharing or delete your data, tell the household first if you can. They will lose access to the shared pets when you do.
4. Respect people
Paw Crew is about animals, but it holds information about people too: who logged what, contact details for vets and sitters, and photos.
Do not use Paw Crew to:
- monitor, track or control a person, for example by using the times and names in the log to keep watch on what a partner, housemate or family member does, or by adding notes about them;
- harass, threaten, shame or bully anyone, including through notes, pet names, photos or names shown on entries;
- store other people’s personal information without a good reason, such as contact details someone has not agreed you may keep, or photos of people who did not want them taken;
- impersonate someone, for example by setting a display name that makes an entry look as if another person logged it.
If you think someone is using Paw Crew to monitor or harm you, you can leave a share at any time from the app, and you can remove Paw Crew and its data from your device. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services.
5. Respect animals
Do not use Paw Crew to record, plan or encourage cruelty to animals, or the illegal sale, fighting or trafficking of animals. The app is for looking after them.
6. Keep it legal
Do not use Paw Crew, or anything you share from it, for anything illegal where you are, and do not store content in it that you do not have the right to store, such as photos or documents that belong to someone else and that you have no permission to keep.
7. Do not break the app or the website
Do not, and do not help anyone else to:
- reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, except where the law expressly allows it regardless of this policy;
- get around the in-app purchase for Paw Crew Pro, or any technical limit;
- interfere with iCloud sharing, or try to get access to a share or a pet that nobody invited you to;
- attack, probe, scan, overload or scrape pawcrew.app, or try to get around its security or its cookie choices;
- copy, resell or redistribute the app, its illustrations, icons, themes, copy or design, other than the open source components on the acknowledgements page, under their own licences;
- use the name Paw Crew or our logo in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we did not. The press page explains how to write about Paw Crew.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at support@pawcrew.app before telling anyone else, and give us a reasonable time to fix it. We will not take action against anyone who reports a problem in good faith and does not use it to harm anyone.
8. What happens if this policy is broken
Because we cannot see your data, we usually cannot act on a breach directly. What we can do:
- If someone in your share is breaking this policy, the owner can remove them, and any participant can leave.
- If you tell us about a breach, we will answer, help you use the tools in the app, and where the law requires it, cooperate with the authorities.
- A breach ends your licence to use the app, as the terms of use explain.
9. Reporting a problem
Write to support@pawcrew.app. Tell us what happened, but please do not send us more personal information than you need to. A person reads every message, and we reply as quickly as we can.
