# App Privacy Details

## The short version

On the App Store, every app shows a privacy label that says what data it collects.
Paw Crew's label says **Data Not Collected**.

This page explains what that means, category by category, so you can check it
against the app. It also lists what the app's privacy manifest declares to Apple
and every permission the app can ask you for.

The short reason the label is empty: the app has no account, no server of ours, no
analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. What you log lives on your
iPhone and in your own iCloud, where we cannot reach it.

The full explanation is in the [privacy policy](https://pawcrew.app/privacy).

## 1. What "collected" means on the App Store

Apple asks developers to list data that is **collected**, which Apple defines as
data transmitted off the device in a way that lets the developer, or companies the
developer works with, access it for longer than it takes to handle a request in
real time.

Paw Crew does transmit your data off your iPhone, but only into **your own iCloud
account**, through Apple's CloudKit private database. Kallos Labs cannot access
that database, so under Apple's definition it is not collected by us. The same is
true of pets you share through iCloud sharing, which is part of the app from
launch: the data moves between iCloud accounts, run by Apple, and never to us.
Household notifications work the same way. Apple's iCloud sends each iPhone in
the household a silent push saying something changed, with no content from your
logs, and the app shows a local notification. Nothing passes through a server of
ours, so nothing is collected.

The same label covers every device the app runs on. The Apple Watch app and the
iPad layout read the same data, synced through your own iCloud on your own
devices, and send nothing to us.

We check the App Privacy answers in App Store Connect against Apple's current
guidance before each submission, and keep this page in step with them.

## 2. Category by category

| Apple's category | Collected by Paw Crew? | Why |
| - | - | - |
| Contact Info (name, email, phone, address) | No | There is no account. Contacts you add for your vet or sitter stay on your iPhone and in your iCloud. The phone number on a lost-pet card goes only on the card you make and share. |
| Health and Fitness | No | The app does not read Apple Health. Your pets' care records and Observations stay on your iPhone and in your iCloud. |
| Financial Info | No | Apple handles payment for Paw Crew Pro. We never see card or billing details. Vet expenses you record are your own notes, kept on your iPhone and in your iCloud. |
| Location | No | The app does not ask for your location. The walk timer records duration only. |
| Sensitive Info | No | Nothing of this kind is asked for or sent. |
| Contacts (your address book) | No | The app does not read your address book. |
| User Content (photos, notes, other content) | No | Your photos, notes, receipts, documents, supplies and expenses stay on your iPhone and in your iCloud. |
| Browsing History | No | The app has no web browsing to record. |
| Search History | No | Searches inside the app are handled on your iPhone. The Spotlight index of pets, contacts and documents is kept on your device by iOS and cleared by Delete all data. |
| Identifiers (user ID, device ID) | No | No account, no advertising identifier, no device fingerprinting. |
| Purchases | No | Apple's StoreKit checks Paw Crew Pro on your iPhone. No purchase record is sent to us. |
| Usage Data | No | No analytics, no usage events, no advertising data. |
| Diagnostics | No | No crash reporting SDK. MetricKit data stays on your iPhone. See section 3. |
| Other Data | No | Nothing else is sent. |

**Tracking.** The label also asks whether an app tracks you, meaning links data
about you with data from other companies for advertising or measurement, or shares
it with data brokers. Paw Crew does not. It never asks for permission to track,
because there is nothing to ask about.

## 3. Apple's own data, which is not on the label

Some things are collected by **Apple**, under Apple's privacy policy, rather than by
the app. Apple's guidance does not ask developers to list them, but here they are,
so nothing is hidden:

- **Crash reports from Apple.** If you turned on Share With App Developers in iOS
Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements, Apple may share crash
logs and basic diagnostics with us, without your name or Apple Account. Turn it
  off there at any time.
- **App Store statistics.** Apple gives developers aggregated numbers such as
downloads, sessions and sales by country.
- **iCloud, Siri and the App Store** themselves, which Apple runs for you.

The [privacy policy](https://pawcrew.app/privacy) explains each of these in sections 8 and 10.

## 4. The privacy manifest

Every app submitted to the App Store includes a privacy manifest file,
`PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy`, that declares to Apple what the app does. Paw Crew has one
in the app, one in its widget extension and one in its Apple Watch app, with the
same contents:

| Key | What Paw Crew declares | Plain meaning |
| - | - | - |
| `NSPrivacyTracking` | `false` | The app does not track you. |
| `NSPrivacyTrackingDomains` | Empty | The app contacts no tracking domains. |
| `NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypes` | Empty | The app collects no data types. This is what makes the label "Data Not Collected". |
| `NSPrivacyAccessedAPITypes` | User defaults, with reasons `CA92.1` and `1C8F.1` | See below. |

**Why the app declares user defaults.** Apple asks apps to give a reason for using
certain system features that could, in theory, be used to fingerprint a device.
Paw Crew uses one of them, the user defaults store, which is where iOS apps keep
small settings. The two reasons it declares are Apple's standard ones:

- **`CA92.1`:** the app reads and writes its own settings, which only the app can
  access.
- **`1C8F.1`:** the app shares settings with its own widgets and notification
actions through its App Group, so a widget knows your theme and "Mark done" works
  from a notification.

Neither reason sends anything off your iPhone.

Before each release we check that the manifests in the app and every extension
still match this table. They were last checked on 27 October 2026.

## 5. Permissions the app can ask for

| Permission | When it is asked | What it is for | If you say no |
| - | - | - | - |
| Notifications | When you create your first reminder | Delivering your reminders, low-supply reminders, "not logged yet" nudges and household notifications, all shown by your iPhone | The app works; a banner on Today reminds you that reminders are off |
| Camera | The first time you take a photo inside the app | Taking a photo of your pet or for a log | You can still choose a photo, or keep the drawn avatar |
| iCloud | Uses the iCloud account already signed in on your iPhone | Sync, household sharing and the silent pushes behind household notifications, through your own iCloud | Your data stays on that iPhone only |
| Live Activities | No prompt; on by default in iOS | The walk timer and the next dose countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, updated on your iPhone | Turn them off in iOS Settings, Paw Crew. You can still log walks and doses as usual |

The app does **not** ask for access to your photo library (Apple's photo picker
gives the app only the photo you choose), your location (not even for the walk
timer), your contacts, your
microphone, Bluetooth, local network, Apple Health or permission to track you.

Siri and Shortcuts actions work through Apple's App Intents, which do not need a
separate permission. Apple handles your request under its own Siri privacy terms.

## 6. Where to check for yourself

- **On the App Store:** the App Privacy section of Paw Crew's listing.
- **On your iPhone:** Settings, Privacy and Security, App Privacy Report, shows
which domains each app has contacted. Paw Crew should show only Apple's own
  services, such as iCloud.
- **In iOS Settings, Paw Crew:** the permissions you have granted, which you can
  change at any time.

If anything you see does not match this page, please tell us at
**privacy@pawcrew.app**. We will treat it as a bug.

## 7. Changes

If the app ever begins to collect anything, the App Store label, the privacy
manifest, this page and the [privacy policy](https://pawcrew.app/privacy) will all change in the same
release, and we will tell you in the app before that release takes effect.
